It's time for a change in lifestyle for awhile here at PumpjackPiddlewick

Sometimes life doesn’t go to plan. But that, to my mind, is as it should be. Life would certainly get very boring if it always remained the same. Routine can be soothing, but sometimes it is time for a change.

I have been offered a job as Tour Guide on the canals of Bourgogne, here in France, with European Waterways. Talk about a change from my current life! I am trading restoration work, for visiting historic and significant places in the area. Taking care of animals, for seeing to the needs of people. And dry land for, well, at least, non-wave orientated waterways. I do get terribly sea sick, so working on boats at sea has never been a dream for me. Now, living on a canal boat, that has been a dream!

So when the opportunity came to make one of my bucket list dreams come true… Well if you have followed Pumpjack & Piddlewick for any length of time, you will know I am all about pursuing ones dreams.

It was a tough and well thought out decision as it will mean living in a totally new world for over 8 months. Giving up what is familiar, and immersing myself in a very different adventure. But when opportunity knocks, it is worth a try. I may hate it, I may love it. I won’t know unless I try.

That’s the thing about life, you can’t predict it. Sometimes it is good, other times there is grief. But one thing I personally won’t live with is regrets. And to me regrets manifest if you do not try.

Now what about Pumpjack & Piddlewick you may ask? And if you have, thank you. This is simply a change of direction in lifestyle for a while. Pumpjack & Piddlewick continues. Pets are being looked after. My Etsy shops are still open, with a partner shipping purchases.

I am looking forward to some new experiences to write about for this blog, as I delve further into my adopted country. Life on board a boat will certainly get a viewing. And life will certainly change in the day to day. But not the overall Pumpjack & Piddlewick picture.

I hope you will continue to join me in my little adventures here in France. Or if you are new here, welcome aboard!
